Performs specialized legal secretarial and clerical work at the direction of one or more attorneys. General supervision is received from attorneys or the legal administrative supervisor. Work is reviewed upon completion for adherence to established policies, procedures and results achieved.

Job Description

General Functions
Performs specialized legal secretarial and clerical work at the direction of one or more attorneys. General supervision is received from attorneys or the legal administrative supervisor. Work is reviewed upon completion for adherence to established policies, procedures and results achieved.

Representative Duties/Assignments

  • At the direction of one or more attorneys prepares legal memoranda, ordinances, legislation, resolutions, administrative regulations, contracts and other transactional documents.
  • Maintains case dockets, trial calendars, completes basic legal forms, schedules hearings and trials, and prepares case files.
  • Researches and compiles data for completion of basic legal forms and documents.
  • Reviews abstracts, deeds, and miscellaneous basic legal documents to ascertain accuracy and conformance to established policies and standards.
  • Receives screens, and routes incoming mail, telephone calls and personal caller. Composes simple replies to non-legal inquires.
  • Performs related work as required.

Minimum Qualifications
High school graduate or equivalent and six years of legal administrative work; or an equivalent combination of relevant education, training or experience.

Ability to type at a rate of 50 correct words per minute.

Preferences

Completion of course work in typing, secretarial, administrative, or clerical practices.

Strong computer skills.

Transactional experience and proficient in word processing software.

Salary Information

Pay Grade: 014 - From $ 21.85 to $28.41
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
