Summary
King County Superior Court is seeking qualified applicants for an Information Processing Technician in Court Operations Department. The Court is one of the nation's largest trial courts, serving the country's 12th most populous county. Located in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, King County Superior Court is nationally recognized for innovation. The court’s mission is to serve the public by ensuring justice through accessible and effective forums for the fair, understandable, and timely resolution of legal matters.
The responsibilities of this position include complex data entry from multiple sources in a fast-paced courtroom setting. Data entry is performed with a high degree of speed and accuracy, using a personal computer and multiple applications or programs.

Work location: This position is in the King County Courthouse 516 3rd Ave Seattle, Washington. The incumbent may be required to work at other facilities as assigned.
Work schedule and terms: This position is hourly (overtime-eligible) and subject to the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act. This is a full-time, benefit-eligible position working a 35-hour workweek. The workweek for this position is normally Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Variations from these hours may occur based on the needs of the court.

Job Duties
The following duties are not intended to represent the entire functional capacity of the position at the task level:- Enter large volumes of information from a variety of documents into computerized systems, in a busy courtroom setting. Use multiple software applications, including word processing and database management. Analyze information before input to verify accuracy and completeness using various software programs.
- Determine validity, correctness and completeness of information to be entered into computer programs; make necessary changes.
- Order in-custody defendants from jail for various court appearances, using required computer applications.
- Create and update various court calendars and databases for the tracking of criminal cases.
- Perform clerical duties as directed.
- Perform customer service duties as directed. Answer telephone and provide accurate information to members of the public as well as communicating with attorneys, court staff and judges.
- Perform criminal calendar coordination duties as directed. Schedule court dates by determining case priority with respect to court rules, legal time frames, and availability of judicial officers, attorneys and litigants. Assist with other Criminal Department duties as required.
- Perform other duties of similar nature or level.
Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills
A high school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED) and two to five years of data entry and customer service experience combined are required.
Court or legal office experience is preferred. Must be able to interact effectively with a wide range of people in a professional manner. Experience with Microsoft Office and other computer software applications required. Knowledge of and ability to learn specialized software applications.
Supplemental Information
Special requirements: The ability to reliably travel throughout the County is required. Finalists are subject to the Washington State Patrol criminal background check and a reference check. Criminal background records are not automatically disqualifying.
Selection process: Application materials will be screened for qualifications and the most competitive candidates will be invited for interviews. Candidates may undergo testing for data-entry speed and accuracy.
