Manager Office of Campus Sustainability Job Opening in Washington
Description :
- Planning & Operations
- Collaborates with the Director of the Office of Campus Sustainability to support the development and implementation of short and long-term plans to prioritize and guide sustainability initiatives.
- Recommends sustainability policies and procedures for effective, efficient, and economical building operations.
- Researches and evaluates new sustainable technologies, services, and opportunities for campus.
- Leads sustainability initiatives and FPM priorities as requested.
- Engagement
- Manages student engagement initiatives on campus including but not limited to the campus thrift store, community garden, food recovery program, and green move-out program, and mentors student organizations focused on sustainability and the environment.
- Manages staff and faculty outreach and collaboration initiatives, including initiatives to incorporate conversations about sustainability into the curriculum and the workplace.
- Identifies and implements new engagement opportunities for students, staff, and faculty across campus.
- Advises, coaches, and supports University staff in identifying, scoping, and implementing energy, water, waste, and other sustainability improvements.
- Communications
- Contributes to Office of Campus Sustainability marketing channels including website and newsletter as well as collaborations with the Division of University Communications.
- Designs and maintains sustainability resources and tools that can assist others in integrating sustainability into their work.
- Reporting
- Contributes to the submission of all internal and external reports, including but not limited to annual progress reports, AASHE STARS report, Bike Friendly University report, Tree Campus Higher Education report, and Laudato Si’ Action Platform report.
- Performs data collection and analysis on sustainability key performance indicators (e.g., energy, water, waste, GHG emissions, etc.).
- Provides easy-to-understand presentations of findings and recommendations as requested.
- Bachelor's Degree
- At least three (3) years of progressive experience in sustainability management, or similar experience preferred.
- Relevant sustainability certification(s), preferred.
- Strong project management skills.
- Ability to plan, organize, set priorities, implement and evaluate systems and programs in support of the Office of Campus Sustainability's broad organizational goals.
- Strong knowledge of environmental best practices.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of management, staff, and students and possess a commitment to serve the needs of the University.
- A strong creative and solutions-oriented mindset.
