Description :
This position is assigned to a satellite kitchen to receive bulk food items from the main kitchen with some final preparation/cooking required. The Food Service Assistant (FSA) is to serve diets as ordered to each resident according to a pre-planned schedule. This position is responsible for preparation of some menu items and for preparing the menu for serving. This encompasses maintaining safe temperatures of food items; plating meals following specifically ordered diets; following safe food handling policies/procedures; assisting trainer staff in dining rooms as needed; providing snacks and medically ordered nourishment for residents; completing proper food storage and labeling; maintaining clean and safe kitchen environment; ordering and replenishing stock items for the main kitchen; providing appropriate interactions with residents. The FSA is responsible for washing and storage of dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and appliances in the kitchen.
This position is designated Mandatory and must report or stay over during adverse weather events.
Salary Grade GN01; Recruitment Range $ 31,200.00

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies
To receive credit for all of your work history and credentials, you must list the information on the application form.   • The ability to read and write and the ability to learn food preparation and cleaning procedures.
  • The ability to maintain effective working relationships with employees and residents.
  • The ability to learn, understand, and follow oral and written instructions.
  • The ability to perform moderately heavy labor for extended periods of time.
  • Applicant should maintain high standards of personal cleanliness and food sanitation.
Management Preferences:
  • Education and/or experience in food service with focus on medical diets that is directly related to the job and consistent with accepted practices of the trade.
  • The ability to use various computer programs such as e-mail, Microsoft Word, and Excel as well as general office equipment.

Physical Requirements:
Stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering (picking, pinching, typing), grasping, talking, hearing, repetitive motions, ability to exert up to 50 lbs of occasional force and/or up to 20 lbs of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs of force constantly to move objects. Visual Acuity Requirements: Visual acuity to determine acuity accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of assigned work.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Education and/or experience in food service that is directly related to the job and consistent with accepted practices of the trade.
Degrees must be from appropriately accredited colleges or universities.
