Criminal Operations Clerk Job Opening in San Antonio

Description :

Summary

Under direct supervision, is responsible for updating and distributing indictments documentation; preparing and maintaining court case files, issuing warrants and other service; preparing transcripts, scanning legal documents; performing data entry; certifying official documents; making copies; answering questionings; and performing related duties as required.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists with determining and updating the cause number, court assignment, and bond amount of all indictments, capital murders, and waivers of indictment
  • Assists with creating and maintaining felony Judgment NCIC cases on forfeited bonds
  • Issues warrants, notices, and service of process
  • Examines documents to be scanned for legibility and sufficient recording and indexing information
  • Scans documents and monitors screen image to ensure proper recording
  • Performs quality assurance on scanned documents
  • Makes plain, certified, and exemplified copies of legal documents
  • Answers questions in person and by telephone, responds to inquiries, and refers calls to other departments as appropriate
  • Prepares penitentiary packets for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice – Institutional Division
  • Performs data entry including cashiering receipts and cost bills
  • Processes incoming and outgoing mail
  • Files and dockets various legal documents
  • Facilitates court costs payment from parolees
  • Performs related duties as required

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School or a General Education Development (GED) certificate and two (2) years general office experience or additional education in a related field may be substituted for experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of basic office procedures; knowledge of alphabetical and numeric file systems; knowledge of basic legal terminology; knowledge of judicial procedures; and knowledge of records management
  • Skill in operating a personal computer, scanning equipment, and basic office equipment
  • Ability to accurately enter data; ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; ability to deal with hostile or irrational individuals; ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions; ability to effectively respond to customer inquiries and complaints; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, other County employees, attorneys and the general public; ability to accurately collect cash; ability to perform basic mathematical calculations
  • Acts in the name of the District Clerk and shall perform all official acts as may be lawfully done and performed by such Clerk in person, pursuant to Section 51.303 of the Texas Government Code
  • Must secure and maintain a favorable background investigation by the District Clerk
  • Must secure and maintain a pre-employment physical and drug screen test
  • Must be bondable
  • May be required to work more than 40 hours during the workweek

  • Constantly working in indoor conditions
  • Frequently moves items weighing up to 15-20 pounds
  • Occasionally moves items weighing up to 40 pounds
  • Frequently moves about the office
  • Frequently communicates with others; must be able to exchange accurate information
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery
  • Positions self to perform essential functions
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position
