Position Summary:
The Financial Aid Analyst is responsible for providing, obtaining, processing, and packaging student financial aid information and coordinating the compiling of data for various financial aid programs. This position is governed by state and federal laws and institution policy.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervises a small administrative support staff by training and making job assignments.
Processes student aid applications, after reviewing need analysis statements, determines financial need, based upon review of need analysis forms, reviews all data for accuracy and completeness and packages awards according to eligibility and regulations.
Meets with students and parents concerning financial aid process, type of financial aid, deadlines and procedures, completes various financial aid forms and documents, and mails financial aid materials when requested.
Assists in compiling state and federal financial aid reports and rosters, attends workshops to keep abreast of new regulations, prepares award letters for students receiving financial aid, disburses financial aid, records and submits award information to business office.
Monitors student enrollment to verify loan eligibility requirements are being met to continue eligibility for financial aid and notifies lender of enrollment changes.
Assigns work study students to jobs on campus based on availability, interviews students for jobs, and maintains work study time sheets.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of supervisory practices and procedures.
Knowledge of student financial aid programs, standards and procedures.
Knowledge of counseling and interviewing techniques.
Knowledge of principles and practices of money management.
Ability to review and evaluate student financial needs and prepare appropriate financial aid package.
Ability to disseminate information orally and in writing.
Ability to collect, analyze, compile, and record data on financial aid.
Ability to supervise the work of subordinates.
Minimum Requirements:
The formal education equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with a major in general business or a related field; plus one year of experience in student financial aid or a related area.
Additional requirements determined by the institution for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Arkansas Division of Higher Education.
OTHER JOB-RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
