The Portfolio Manager works closely with the loan officer(s) and credit analysts to provide superior customer service to existing relationships within the officer(s) portfolio. This person would be an extension of the loan officer, having some customer contact while assisting in the daily activity and tracking of each relationship. The Portfolio Manager monitors: loans coming due, past due loans, exception tracking, and covenant tracking working with the officer on preparing and coordinating presentations, WAM’s, AFR’s, PLR’s, memos, and credit modifications for various reporting and approvals. While the Loan Officer is the final approval for any work submitted to the file or to an approval committee, the Portfolio Manager allows the loan officer(s) to put a greater focus on developing new business for the bank.


  • Partners with assigned Loan Officers in supporting the growth and development of agricultural loan portfolio through the various stages of the lending process.

  • Assists with new and existing client needs including managing loan requests from inception to close allowing the assigned loan officers to dedicate more time to sales efforts and business development

  • Provides ongoing monitoring of assigned portfolios to ensure asset quality and customer service standards are met.

  • Monitors construction loans, loan advances and pay downs; ensures funding of construction loan disbursements in accordance with bank policies.

  • Assists with ongoing portfolio review of past dues, exceptions and maturing loan reports

  • Reports past dues to officer or makes contact to collect payment

  • Works with Officer to collect items needed for loan renewal processing

  • Reports deteriorating credit situations to officer

  • Participates in evaluating risk rating and makes revision recommendations

  • Monitors, collects and tracks financial information on new and existing borrowers and guarantors

  • Responsible for the tracking, monitoring and management of borrower reviews and covenant compliance.

  • Attends position relevant & educational trainings

  • Assists VP of Ag Lending and Loan Officer(s) in other activities as assigned


  • Highly proficient communication skills both written and verbal.

  • Advanced skills in Excel, Word, Outlook, and lending software.

  • Ability to create readable, factual, easy to follow loan presentation reports for loan officer, loan committee, board reporting, and examiner review.

  • Ability to read and decipher, including but not limited to: personal and business tax returns, financial statements, appraisals, lease agreements, and loan documents (internal and attorney prepared).

  • Able to multi-task while reflecting a positive bank image in both internal and customer facing manner.


  • High School Diploma and/or Associates Degree

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of commercial banking experience some of which includes experience in loan administration, loan assistant, credit analysis, and/or underwriting.


  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Supplemental Banking Certifications

  • Community Service
