PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES Ensure the:

• Safety of all employees within the plant, including eliminating any unsafe acts and conditions.

Primary responsibilities

• Manage/Operate chemical plant systems.
• Operate equipment to adjust speed of chemical reactions or yields.
• Operate panel boards, control boards, and semi-automatic equipment.
• Report spills or dangerous conditions.
• Draw and analyze samples of products.
• Interpret chemical reactions on monitors.
• Patrol tanks and troughs to ensure they aren't overflowing.
• Monitor plant to ensure efficient production.
• Regulate and shut down equipment if necessary.
• Use steam to defrost frozen valves.
• Operate and test towers, soap-spray storage tanks, scrubbers, collectors, and driers.
• Test equipment for malfunctions.
• Responsible for maintaining housekeeping standards
• Calculate material requirements and collect appropriate materials.
• Ensure chemicals are stored properly.
• Use calibrated rods to gauge tank levels.
• Keep track of instrument readings.
• Adjust power, steam, water, and air supplies.
• Functions as First Responder and arranges for medical treatment in case of severe injury.
• Works with Manager - Safety to develop materials and agendas for safety meetings then conducts when needed.
• Enters Production data into plant systems.
• Coordinates needed circuit maintenance.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum of a high school education, degree preferred
• Five years of production experience preferably in a chemical plant
