- Qualifications:
1. Hold a bachelor’s degree or have experience in a relevant field.
- Have ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders.
- Have knowledge of PowerSchool sufficient to monitor, retrieve, organize, and track attendance of students.
- Have knowledge of division attendance policies.
- Be organized with attention to details.
- Have ability to meet deadlines.
- Have ability to operate office machines and computer programs.
- Be capable of sitting and/or standing for periods of time.
Reports to: Director of Special Education
Job Description: The Attendance Clerk will monitor occurrences of extreme absenteeism, unexcused absences, and excessive tardiness in order to report to the school principals and the Truancy Officer.
Salary/Hours: Part-time position, up to 25 hours per week, $20.00 per hour during the school year. Flexible schedule—at school a minimum of two days per week; other hours, Attendance Clerk may work from home as long as work is completed.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Monitor attendance of all students (district wide) to identify students with attendance issues, especially those in danger of becoming chronically absent.
- Assist in the maintenance of accurate records pertaining to student attendance.
- Prepare attendance notification letters to parents/guardians following division guidelines (3 days, 5 days, etc.).
- Coordinate with principals to assist in scheduling attendance meetings.
- Prepare reports and gather data for division Truancy Officer and/or building level administrator. Documents would include parent/guardian notes; letters sent to parents/guardians; report cards; dates of absences with reasons for absences; and list of dates/times of attempts to contact parents/guardians, methods of contact (phone, text, etc.), and name of person who tried to contact parents/guardians.
- Perform any other related duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education or other appropriate administrator.
NOTE: This position is a grant-funded position that may end when the grant expires. If the candidate does not meet all the qualifications, the School Board retains the right to fill the position with the best qualified and appropriate candidate.
