JOB SUMMARY: The Team Lead ensures that In-Shape provides an environment that is clean, safe, and enjoyable for members and employees. This role partners with the club Leadership to drive success and profitability of the club through the delivery of excellent club experience, high member and employee retention, and effective expense controls.
  • Knowledgeable in club activities, programs, promotions and timelines to best assist current and potential members.
  • Maintains multiple departments' inventory supplies to ensure the Club is always in stock using accurate record keeping. Orders supply for club and manage all Purchase Orders.
  • Resolve concerns/problems ensuring our member's needs are met and company guidelines are followed.
  • Accurately and effectively utilize technology to assist current and potential members.
  • Works with GM to retain memberships and follow up on cancellations.
  • Partners with GM or AM to support membership sales growth and member satisfaction.
  • Ensures team members have the necessary tools and resources to exceed member expectations.

Operational Excellence:
  • Responsibility for following and adhering to our #OneTeam approach on club cleanliness and safety standards outlined in our Cleaning standards playbook. This includes keeping the club clean & sanitized (free of trash, equipment picked up and organized, and wiped down with sanitizing agent); on a regular basis and directed by club leadership.
  • Maintains or oversees pool and spa operations (where applicable). Participates in the annual Health Department Inspections with inspectors and maintains pool chemical logs per requirements. Checks and reviews status per county rules and regulations
  • Responsible for managing team member or member injury/accident incidents by investigating incident, completion of forms, follow-up on safety area, and report all facts to Human Resources and Management.
  • Supports GM to assure that company policies and procedures are consistent by clearly understanding them in order to properly train, communicate, and explain to team members.
  • Develops and reviews club schedules to ensure they are within the budgeted guidelines. Works to provide optimum scheduling and coverage as to provide excellent member services. Ensures all schedules are entered and maintained in club timekeeping system.
  • Works with GM/AGM on Human Resources and Payroll related activities/requirements for all paperwork for new hires, timekeeping, time off requests (with GM approval), audits of team member time records and all other team member matters in a timely manner.

Leadership and Development of Operations Team/Demonstrate #OneTeam Attitude:
  • Ensures all team members complete required training in the prescribed timeframes and follows-up to ensure training is properly recorded in the training database. At the direction of the GM, may assist in the hiring and training process
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with ISHC policies and applicable laws, including;
    • Training team members in all areas of the club.
    • Planning, assigning, and directing work.
    • Monitoring appraisal performance review process.
    • Rewarding and recognizing team members for GREAT performances, reach out to management. for guidance on how to handle staff members under-performing.
    • Addressing complaints and resolving problems of members and team members.
  • Analyze, interpret, and follow company policies (written, oral, diagram and or schedule form) to ensure safety of our club and team members.
  • Flexible/positive attitude in meeting and exceeding our members expectations.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to analyze, interpret company policies and communicate them to members and team members.
  • Prior supervisory experience preferred.
  • Prior experience in scheduling preferred.
  • Prior inventory control experience preferred.
  • Prior payroll experience preferred.
  • Prior service industry experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with MS Office.
  • Experience with inventory, cash register use and balancing, making change, opening and closing procedures.
  • Outstanding organization and strong time management skills.
  • Maintaining focus in a sometimes hectic and evolving environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, work well under pressure and time constraints and displays positive behavior in all member contacts.
  • Attend and participate in required meetings and trainings as needed.
  • Willing and able to work a flexible shift: evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Bilingual skills a plus.
  • Current CPR or ability to pass CPR certification within 60 days of hire date.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk and stand up to 8 hours/day; sitting is seldom to occasional. Employees may be exposed to cleaning chemicals or airborne particles and will be required to wear designated PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) as directed. Employees are occasionally required to use hands and fingers for handle or feel; occasional reach, push and pulling with arms and hands; occasional climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and occasional reach and twist, including side-to-side movements. The employee may be required to occasionally lift, carry or move up to 25 pounds and may seldom be required to lift, carry or move 26-50 pounds.
During the COVID-19 pandemic: All In-Shape Team Members will be required to assist with greeting members to perform temperature checks and health screens, ensure members practice physical distancing and monitor cleaning of equipment after each use. Detailed instructions will be provided at time of hire.
In-Shape Team Members will be required to comply with company policies regarding the use of PPE (personal protective equipment), by following instructions and outlined safety guidelines, to protect our team and club members. Club Safety training and equipment will be provided. Team Members are to report to management, or designated team member, any safety risks or potential risks identified in the work environment.
