Job Summary:

Responsible for greeting patients in a welcoming, professional manner, registering patients, posting charges, accepting payments, filing medical results & records appropriately, and answering telephones promptly.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED General Studies Required

Certifications and Licensures:

  • N/A

Experience:


  • 2+ Medical Office Preferred

Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to be personable, tactful, and professional in dealing with customers is required.
  • Clear and effective oral and written communication skills required.
  • Proficiency with standard office equipment required.
  • Ability to use computers and have understanding of computer systems.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Word and Excel skills preferred.

Job Specific Duties:

Patient Care
Greets patients in a friendly, service-oriented, professional manner and issues appropriate forms for registration according to patient typeworkers comp, insured, occupational health, etc.. Exhibits high standards of customer service at all times.

Scheduling Tasks
Schedules appointments for physicians according to policy. Registration System

Knowledge
Exhibits thorough knowledge of Medical Manager registration system and payor payment requirements, e.g. patient co-pays, deductibles, etc.

Data Accuracy
Enters new patient data and updates established patient data quickly and accurately. Consistenly meets established standards for registration data entry accuracy. Assures that patient information forms are completed correctly and updated at each visit.

Patient Accounts
Posts UC/WC/OHC charges, receives payments, and issues receipts in a prompt, efficient manner according to clinic procedures. Monitors status of patients' accounts and informs patients of payment expectations and other financial policies according to clinic procedures.

Payment Reconcilliation
Maintains and balances cash drawer according to established clinic procedures. Reconciles patient payments and prepares end of shift report documents according to clinic procedures.

File Maintenance
Creates and maintains patient records with appropriate patient information, medical documentation, and correspondence as received in a timely, accurate manner.

Cashier Tasks
Receives payments and issues receipts in an accurate, efficient, and prompt manner and according to established procedures. Posts information daily on computer for patient charges, payments, and deductibles in a timely manner.

Confidentiality
Acts with integrity and confidentiality when dealing with patients and/or clinic information, in accordance with clinic and HIPAA procedures.

Telephone Support
Answers telephone quickly in a friendly, professional manner and responds to the type of call appropriately. Documents messages accurately and completely and distributes appropriately. Follows through with patient requests and instructions as necessary.

Customer Relations
Contributes to overall positive clinic attitudes by exhibiting professional courtesy to patients, customers, physicians, and coworkers.

Professionalism
Upholds a professional working relationship at all times and adheres to department rules. Practices teamwork and adheres to Standards of Behavior.
