Position is with the DMV Connect Unit. The Central location for this position is the Tyson’s Corner CSC.
Position is responsible for providing daily operational and administrative support to the mobile unit and the Mobile Unit Manager in coordinating and directing the mobile unit daily operations. The position will assist with coordinating and leading operational functions for the Mobile Office, which includes staff scheduling, stocking of supplies, equipment/facility management duties, marketing the services of the unit, and community outreach and networking. Position supervises DMV Mobile Office staff in absence of mobile office manager and oversees customer service transactions, administers vision, knowledge and road tests for driver licensing, and issues DMV credentials; performs operational and administrative management functions to ensure all procedures are followed and monies are balanced. All programs and services are administered in a customer service-focused manner and in accordance with statutory and administrative procedural requirements such as the Motor Vehicle Code of Virginia, DMV policies, procedures, rules and regulations, the Privacy Protection Act and the Freedom of Information Act. When unit is not deployed position is responsible for providing support to another mobile unit/ DMV Connect and/or providing customer service support in CSC.
Knowledge of management principles and practices; training and education principles and practices.
Working knowledge of office operations and procedures; computer concepts and mathematical concepts.
Working knowledge of accounting and inventory control principles and practices, and of basic data collection and analysis techniques.
Strong skills needed in: customer service, computer keyboarding, communications (both oral and written), and negotiation, reasoning, organizational, and coordinating.
Working skill in the operation of a motor vehicle and commercial motor vehicle.
Ability to understand, interpret, explain and apply complex written material such as the Motor Vehicle Code, other laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures and to adapt to frequent statute, policy and procedural changes.
Ability to analyze records, files and other documents to reach logical and legal conclusions.
Ability to accurately perform arithmetical computations and to balance and reconcile a cash drawer.
Ability to effectively coordinate the operations of a service facility.
Ability to effectively lead the work of others and provide training and guidance on complex work processes and procedures
Ability to effectively train, coach and monitor operational staff.
Ability to work cooperatively with others in a team environment and to work effectively under pressure during peak workload periods.
Ability to communicate in a courteous, professional and tactful manner, both orally and in writing, with personnel from all organizational levels and a diverse customer population.
Ability to successfully complete all required employee training in addition to training in road testing procedures and techniques.
Ability to lift 50 plus pounds
Ability to perform work tasks at various work stations within the DMV Mobile unit and customer service centers as assigned.
Must be willing to work Monday-Sunday with varying hours to meet agency business needs.
Frequent travel including overnight is required.
Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
Possession of a Class B Commercial Driver’s License is preferred; however, applicant will be considered if they hold a Commercial Examiner Certificate and/or have experience and be willing and able to obtain a Class B Commercial Driver’s License. Must maintain a point balance of less that six demerit points and no major traffic violations.
Required to be at least 21 years of age in order to apply for a position that requires performing driver’s license testing.
