GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:


Responsible for performing a variety of accounting support and bookkeeping
activities.

WORK BEHAVIOR STATEMENTS /JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Identifies financial or accounting problems and determines appropriate
remedy; handles difficult inquiries or problems, researches situations
and provides resolutions. Develops and implements procedures to
improve accounting methods.

Enters and posts taxes, payments, fees, charges and deposits; maintains
and compares pertinent records. Reviews accuracy of information and
corrects errors.

Utilizes computer technology to enter and retrieve data and a variety of
program and statistical information. Maintains balances and updates
accounts; adds or closes files; develops and maintains spreadsheets and
computer reports. Composes and uses word processing software to type
reports and other correspondence.


Assists the public in person, by mail, via the telephone or other electronic
means with their inquiries regarding State Code, City Code, procedures,
and ordinances.
Maintains and updates accounts in computer system; classifying, assessing
liability, updating location, current status, and mailing address.

Add and update Business License accounts, calculate taxes, assist individuals
in understanding local and state guidelines regarding business license taxes.
Assist taxpayers in person, by telephone and written communication.

Serves as acting supervisor in the absence of the supervisor, assists the
supervisor in training and reviewing the work of new employees.

Performs other related work as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER COMPETENCIES:


Thorough knowledge of basic accounting or complex bookkeeping principles
and practices. Thorough knowledge of office systems, practices, and
administration.
Thorough knowledge of financial and mathematical computations.


General knowledge of the proper procedures and techniques involved in
assigned work processes. Some knowledge personal computer systems and
basic office equipment.
Effective oral and written communication skills.


Ability to read, understand, and interpret instructions, both orally and in
writing.


Ability to review processes and compare information in order to identify
discrepancies and deviating circumstances.


Ability to use a calculator with speed and accuracy.


Ability to compile data and to compare routine reports and studies.


Ability to analyze and evaluate work methods and to exercise appropriate
judgment in establishing priorities and work methods.


Ability to perform mathematical computations such as percentages,
fractions, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division quickly and
accurately.

Ability to type, enter and retrieve information with reasonable speed and
accuracy.

Many assignments require basic typing and/or word processing skills, along
with skill in using spreadsheet software.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:


Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a high
school diploma and 4 years of related accounting, bookkeeping, and
customer service experience.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:


Require an acceptable background check.
Must be able to acquire status as a Notary.
